After meeting with representatives from ShareThis at the Career Fair and seeing from their excitement and passion the benefits and opportunities of ShareThis, I am left asking “why didn’t anyone think of this before?” It is so integral to the Web 2.0 concept. Basically, instead of copying and pasting a web address to an email, facebook message, aim box, etc to share an article or video, you click the (customizable) Sharethis widget. Up pops your email accounts, facebook friends, aim, or any other friend accounts you tell Sharethis when you register. It was just created last November is and growing exponentially, and I can see why. I peg this as the next big thing, and assume web users will consequently be annoyed in the future when they find an article, video, or website that does NOT have a Sharethis widget they can easily use to share the content with friends (and the host can track how many people share which articles…benefits all around!)
We need to get these guys in class!
