UGC + editorial control = NOTCOT

The basic wikpedia problem, or moreover the problem of any ugc website, is the lack quality control in the content.  How is anyone ever supposed to know who posted, what their expertise is, weed out the bias, et cetera.  I discovered in this article from TechCrunch that Jean Aw and Dan Frysinger have taken the initiative to keep the phenonmenon of rich ugc sites going, but creating a more valuable and credible expereince with the NOTCOT network.  They call the content “curated user submissions.”  I don’t totally understand how the entire site/experience works, but I am very excited to see it’s progress and will definitally be keeping myself updated on the site and reports from users.
