Internet Zeitgeist!

Viral videos, cultural phenomenons, new search engines and a need for aggregating all the wacky web stuff has prompted the search engine Mahalo (still in Beta) to create a section simply entitled “Zettgeist.” Herein lies categories, compilations, and links upon hyperlinks of fun articles, videos, and websites.  This is a perfect example of search engines attempting to differentiate themselves and attract users, as well as simply catering to the notion of bringing the web to “you.”  There is even an RSS for the page, so not only does it compile everything viral, interesting, wacky, and popular on the web in one page, you don’t even have to leave your igoogle to check it out.

Mahalo in general is a very interesting and diverse site, with a social version, a Mahalu Follow (web3.0?) version available for download, and many other features.  It claims to be the “first human-powered search engine.”   Definitally worth exploring.
